English Open 2024
The English Open is the highest ranked competition on the UK Calendar.
The English Open BJJ Championship 2024 will be held at the University of East London.
The event will have Juvenile divisions, Adult divisions. Master divisions 1-7.
Scheduling
A full schedule will be released by Tuesday 21st November.
Purple, Brown and Black belt divisions Sunday 24th.
Most blue belt divisions will be held on Sunday, but for scheduling reasons we cannot finalise the blue belt divisions schedule until the week before the event.
Most white belt divisions will be held on Saturday 23rd November, but we cannot finalise these until the week before the event.
Schedule released by Tuesday 19th November.
Absolute division registration will take place on the day and will only be open to medallists.
Refund Policy
Full refunds available automatically when you withdraw from the tournament up to Midnight on Monday 18th November 2023.
If you withdraw before midnight on 18th November you will receive a full refund.
If you stay in the competition then you may be matched in a suitable division by our staff, or they may refund you. There will be a £20 charge for refunds issued by our staff as there are significant costs involved in time and paypal charges.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF COMPETITORS TO MOVE DIVISIONS.
THE ORGANISER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MATCHMAKING IF YOUR DIVISION IS EMPTY BUT MAY MAKE CHANGES IF THEY SEE FIT AND YOU HAVE GIVEN PERMISSION.
Weigh ins-ruleset-gis.
Weigh ins will be on the day you fight, just before your first match. Competitors must weigh in with their gi and belt on. If you fail to make weight you will be DQ'd. You will not be able to move divisions.
If there are no other registrations in your category you will be allowed to move division once registration has closed or you will be entitled to a full refund.
Gis must be correctly sized as per IBJJF rules, with 4 fingers space in the cuff of sleeves and trousers, and no more than 4 fingers space between hand and gi for jacket and ankle and gi for trousers. If your gi or belt are deemed unsuitable you will have to find a replacement or will be disqualified. Jacket and trousers must be colour matched but can be any colour.
Matches will follow IBJJF rules.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or admission. The respect rule will be in operation and any competitor, coach or spectator that breaks this rule may be removed from the event.

All competitors will receive a free T shirt, please enter the correct size during the registration process.
Team trophies will be given to the top three teams by academy.
Coaches must arrange for coaching passes in advance. Minimum 5 competitors per pass. There will be no matside coaching.

Free car parking is available behind the facility.
Spectator fees are £10 per person, payable on the day.
